The Power of Agitators in The Salvation Army: Igniting Passion and Engagement When we think about The Salvation Army, our minds often drift to images of charitable work, support for people experiencing homelessness, and those iconic brass bands at Christmas time. Yet, behind the scenes of this global Church and charity lies a key ingredient to its success: agitators. These are the people who challenge the status quo, stir up enthusiasm, and galvanise communities into action - to achieve charitable aims, but more importantly to point people to a faith in Jesus. Salvation Army officers in training are known as cadets. Each session of cadets is given a sessional name, which unites cadets from across the international Salvation Army with a common name and vision. General Lyndon Buckingham—the international leader of The Salvation Army—has announced the following names for sessions of cadets from 2026-2032: The 2026-2028 session will be named  Rescued  ( Colossians 1:13 ). The 2027-2029 session will be named  Redeemed  ( Galatians 3:13 ). The 2028-2030 session will be named  Reconciled  ( 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 ).  The 2029-2031 session will be named  Restored  ( 1 Peter 5:10 ).  The 2030-2032 session will be named  Renewed  ( Romans 12:2 ). For those unfamiliar with the internal workings of The Salvation Army, these sessional names are unusual in that they are comprised of one word.
