Testimony: A Life Transformed

Testimony: A Life Transformed

My testimony can be summarised through the lyrics; 'You have broken every chain, there's Salvation in Your name, Jesus Christ, my living hope'.

My testimony is or a life which has been utterly transformed through my faith in Jesus Christ. I want to emphasise the incredible faithfulness, provision, and promises of our mighty God that have been revealed to me on this remarkable journey of life thus far.

Before I encountered Jesus Christ, my life was often filled with darkness, confusion, and emptiness. I was lost, searching for meaning and purpose, but the world offered me no solace. I wandered through the maze of worldly pursuits, desperately trying to fill the void in my heart, only to be left feeling more broken and defeated. The things I thought would make me happy didn't, the things I put my hope in only failed me.

It was during a low point in my life in 2012 when God's faithfulness shone brightly upon me. In His infinite love and mercy, He reached out to me and opened my eyes to the truth of His Son, Jesus Christ. The scales fell from my eyes, and I saw the depth of my sinfulness, my human weakness, realising that I needed a Savior. In that moment, I re-surrendered my life to Jesus, accepting Him as my Lord and Saviour. I have to thank Majors Andrew & Sheila Dunkinson and Lieutenant-Colonel Ann Borrett for taking me seriously, not disregarding me, and having faith in me in those days.

From that moment forward, I experienced God's faithfulness in every aspect of my life. He never abandoned me, even in my darkest moments. His love and grace enveloped me, filling the void in my heart with His unfathomable peace and joy. He became my refuge, my rock, and my stronghold.

God's provision in my life has been nothing short of miraculous; life hasn't always been easy, there are still challenges, but 'I can sing of the goodness of God'. God has provided for my physical, emotional, and spiritual needs abundantly. God has provided me with an amazing wife who is both my mission-partner, confidant and critical friend. I've also been blessed with three amazing children, and the privilege of ministry as a Salvation Army officer.

Whenever I've struggled, God has opened unexpected doors of opportunity, granting me favour and supplying all my needs according to His riches in glory. When I've faced sickness and despair, He poured out His healing touch upon me, lifting me up and restoring my strength. His provision is not merely material but extends to the depths of my soul, where He constantly pours His love and grace upon me.

Throughout this incredible journey, I have held onto God's promises, knowing that He is faithful to fulfill every word He has spoken. His promises have become my anchor in times of uncertainty and my hope in times of despair. He promised to never leave me nor forsake me, and He has been true to His word. He promised to guide me in all things, and His wisdom has never failed me. He promised to work all things together for my good, and I have witnessed His mighty hand turning my trials into testimonies.

As a response to God's faithfulness in my life, I seek to lead, inspire, motivate, and impact those I have the immense privilege of serving. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to live out God's calling on my life in this way.

I'm here today as a living testament to the transformative power of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. God has rescued me from darkness, breathed new life into my weary soul, and filled me with a purpose beyond my wildest imagination. The journey of Salvation Army officership is rich beyond my wildest imagination. God's faithfulness, provision, and promises are not mere words but the very fabric of my existence.

I urge you to place your trust in the unchanging, faithful God we serve. Surrender your life to Jesus and experience the abundant life He promises. Let God's love, grace, and mercy wash over you, transforming you from the inside out. Embrace God's provision, for He is the source of all good things. Hold tightly to God's promises, for they are steadfast and true.

I'm a prodigal son and God welcomed me home! There is pain and challenge in the world, life is not easy, but we serve a God who is able to do 'immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine'.

'All my life You have been faithful, all my life You have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God.'
