Lead, Inspire, Hope: A Personal Mission Rooted in Jesus

Lead, Inspire, Hope: A Personal Mission Rooted in Jesus

As I navigate life as a dad, Salvation Army officer, and disciple of Jesus, I’ve been drawn to reflect deeply on my personal mission, priorities, and motivations. These reflections have, over recent days, crystallised into a guiding framework that shapes everything I do: Lead, Inspire, Hope.

My Personal Mission Statement: Lead, Inspire, Hope

Spiritual leadership is more than managing or directing; it’s about authentic service and spiritual direction. As 1 Peter 5:2 (GNT) reminds us, “Be shepherds of the flock that God gives you and take care of it willingly, as God wants you to, and not unwillingly.” This scripture anchors my understanding of leadership—it is not about personal gain or ambition but about willingly guiding, encouraging, and uplifting others as a shepherd cares for their sheep.

Inspiration flows naturally from leadership that is Jesus-centered. By modelling faith, resilience, and compassion, I aim to inspire others to see the beauty of God’s transformative work in their lives.

Finally, hope is both a gift and a calling. In a world marked by uncertainty and brokenness, I strive to embody and share the hope found in Jesus—a hope that transforms despair into joy and darkness into light.

My Personal Priorities: Pause, Reflect, Pray

Living out this mission requires a firm foundation, and my personal priorities keep me grounded: Pause, Reflect, Pray.

Psalm 91:1-2 (GNT) speaks to this rhythm of life: “Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him, ‘You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.’”

1. Pause: In the busyness of ministry, family, and life’s challenges, pausing is essential. It’s a moment to step back, breathe, and remember that God is in control.

2. Reflect: Reflection allows me to see how God is working, even in difficult circumstances. It’s a time to learn, grow, and realign with His will.

3. Pray: Prayer is the lifeblood of my relationship with God. It’s where I find strength, direction, and peace, ensuring that my mission and priorities flow from His power, not my own.

These priorities are not just practices but disciplines that nurture my soul, helping me to lead, inspire, and bring hope from a place of spiritual abundance.

My ‘Why?’: All for Jesus

At the heart of my personal mission and priorities lies a simple yet profound truth: All for Jesus!

1 Corinthians 10:31 (GNT) encapsulates this beautifully: “Well, whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for God’s glory.” Every action, every decision, every word is an act of worship and service to the One who gave everything for me.

This ‘Why?’ is what sustains me through the highs and lows of life. It reminds me that my purpose is not defined by earthly success or recognition but by faithfully glorifying Jesus in all I do. Whether I’m serving in my officer role, supporting my family through challenging times, or simply walking alongside someone in need, I do it all for Jesus.

Bringing It All Together

My mission statement, priorities, and ‘Why?’ are not separate entities but an integrated framework for life. By leading, inspiring, and offering hope, I aim to glorify Jesus. By pausing, reflecting, and praying, I remain connected to God and His purposes. And by keeping my ‘Why?’—All for Jesus—at the forefront, I ensure that my actions are aligned with His will.

This framework is becoming a source of strength, particularly during times of challenge. It has reminded me that even in my struggles, God is faithful, and He calls me to faithfulness in return.

What are your personal mission, priorities, and ‘Why?’ Perhaps take some time to pause, reflect, and pray.
